Hands-on experience, real mentorship, and meaningful work in Austin’s performing arts community. Our internships prepare college-age artists and administrators for careers in the arts—while supporting programs like the Heller Awards for Young Artists and Summer Stock Austin.

School‑Year Internships

September–May • Flexible, part‑time (typically 5–10 hrs/week)

What You’ll Do

  • Support day‑to‑day operations across programs and events.
  • Collaborate with professional staff and guest artists.
  • Gain exposure to nonprofit management, event production, and marketing.
  • Grow toward potential paid roles on Heller Awards or Summer Stock teams in spring/summer.
Arts Administration
Operations, data, donor support, scheduling.
Marketing
Content, social, email, basic design/video.
Dance / Choreography
Rehearsal support, staging, movement.
Stage Management
Rehearsal reports, calendars, call books.

Hospitality, travel, communications, FOH.

Summer Internships (Summer Stock Austin)

Separate Application Required

Impact Arts also offers separate summer internships through Summer Stock Austin—our tuition‑free training and production program. These roles are immersive and full‑time during the summer production period.

  • Areas include stage management, choreography, production, and arts administration.
  • Evening/weekend hours expected during rehearsals and performances.

Are internships paid?

School‑year internships are unpaid. However, interns may be eligible for paid opportunities if selected for Heller Awards or Summer Stock Austin teams in the spring/summer.

Can I apply for both school‑year and Summer Stock Austin internships?

Yes. They are distinct programs with separate applications and timelines. You may apply to one or both.

What’s the time commitment?

School‑Year: Flexible, part‑time (typically 5–10 hrs/week). SSA Summer: Full‑time during production periods, including evenings/weekends.

Who is eligible?

Generally college students and emerging professionals (18+). We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Where does the internship take place?

Most work is in Austin, TX. Some administrative tasks may be completed remotely. In‑person attendance is expected for rehearsals, events, and meetings.
