Hamilton Workshop

$15.00

Hamilton Audition Experience: Dance & Voice Intensive with Jorge Guerra

Date: Saturday, March 29
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Check-in begins at 9:00 AM)
Location: Texas Performing Arts on UT Campus
What to Bring: Sneakers (no ballet or jazz shoes), Something to take notes on: paper or digital

Step into the Hamilton audition room with Jorge Guerra, a cast member from the hit national tour, in this dynamic and immersive workshop blending professional-level dance, voice, and audition preparation.

We’ll begin with check-in at 9:00 AM. Please wear sneakers (no ballet or jazz shoes), and arrive ready to warm up and dance by 9:30 AM.

Jorge will teach the My Shot choreography—one of the official combos used in auditions for Hamilton. You’ll be taught, perform in groups, and receive real-time, personalized feedback in a mock audition setting that mirrors the professional experience.

Vocal Audition Component:
While everyone will observe and learn from the vocal portion, a select number of participants will be invited to perform a 16-bar vocal cut in the style of Hamilton (but not from the show). Cuts must be memorized, under one minute, and accompanied by a track. Your selection can be from musical theatre (In the Heights, Rent) or contemporary artists (Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, etc.)—anything that captures the bold, expressive style of the show.*

Whether you sing or observe, you’ll gain valuable tools for auditioning, connecting to material, and refining your artistic presence. Please bring something to take notes on.

We’ll close with a talkback where Jorge shares his journey, advice on auditioning, and what it’s really like to perform in one of the biggest musicals of our time—all in a welcoming, artist-first environment rooted in growth and authenticity.

*Not required for participants, but if you’d like the opportunity to sing, please come prepared with a track.
